You know Joe.
If your life is a movie, Joe Cocker probably sings on the soundtrack. The English rocker with the distinctive, soulful voice will perform Tuesday, July 7 at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.
He covered blues and Beatles songs in the 1960's - his version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" became legendary at Woodstock. When he toured the U.S. in 1970 as lead singer in Mad Dogs and Englishmen, his versions of "Cry Me a River," "Feelin' Alright," and "The Letter," climbed the charts.
In the 70's and early 80's, Cocker had hits with "You Are So Beautiful" and "Jamaica Say You Will."
"Up Where We Belong," a duet with Jennifer Warnes for the soundtrack of the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman," hit number one on Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy for Best Pop Performance By a Duo in 1982.
In the 80's and 90's, you remember his sexy "You Can Leave Your Hat On," as well as "Unchain My Heart," "Feels Like Forever," and "Have a Little Faith in Me." He performed the opening set at Woodstock '94.
Cocker appeared as several minor characters in the 2007 film "Across the Universe" as lead singer on another Beatles' hit "Come Together." Since April, he has been touring North America to support his latest album, the bluesy, gospel-influenced, Hymn for My Soul. He plans a studio release for 2010 featuring a modern look at classic rhythm and blues.
