Get ready for the upcoming holidays by thinking about how to style your hair for a company party, special night out or just unwrapping presents under the tree. Ben Skervin, Head & Shoulders’ Global Ambassador, took some time out from his recent visit to Las Vegas to talk to Examiner.com about holiday hair trends for 2008. Here’s a look at some trends Kervin expects to be hot.
Examiner.com: What are some of the hottest hair trends right now?
Ben Skervin: Long waves, sleek ponies and relaxed up-dos are some of the hottest trends for fall and winter.
EC: What can you do to make your hair look special for a holiday party?
BS: First, start by ensuring your hair is healthy by starting at the source, your scalp. Use a shampoo like Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky system of shampoo and conditioner. Then, find the perfect hair style for you and your outfit. A relaxed up-do with some fun accessories would dress up an outfit nicely.
EC: Can you suggest some hair accessories that would add some sparkle to a holiday outfit?
BS: I think simplicity is the best. Using a small barrette to pull some hair back out of your face would add some sparkle.
EC: How can I use extensions with my holiday look?
BS: Using extensions could add fullness and thickness to fine and limp hair. They could help add some length to shorter cuts to help get the up-do or loose wave you are striving for.
EC: What hair color is really hot for the holidays?
BS: Warmer hair colors continue to be a major trend this fall. They instantly give hair a more vibrant look and complement most skin tones.
EC: How can I get shiny hair?
BS: Using a shine spray and blowing cool air over your hair after blow drying and styling will close your hair cuticles and give you hair a shinier look.
EC: Can you recommend a hairspray that won’t leave my hair stiff?
BS: Using any hairspray sparingly is crucial to ensure that hair does not get stiff. Try Sheer Hold Hairspray by Frederic Fekkai.
EC: Can you recommend some celebrity looks that would work for the holidays?
BS: Pay attention to Keira Knighltey. She is a fashion icon for clothing and hair styles. Keira always looks amazing on the red carpet and she has been sporting a lot of side-swept hair styles this fall. A deep part with flowing curls or a deep part with a loose bun or up-do is an effortless way to look trendy and chic at every holiday party.
EC: How would you recommend I style my hair for the holidays if I have short hair?
BS: Short hair is one of the most popular looks around this season. Having lots of layers will give you bounce and create volume. Another big trend is chopping into the hair, rather than a blunt cut adding even more flare to your cut. For a holiday look, a thin headband could be a great way to dress up your hair.
EC: What beauty product are you loving for winter?
BS: Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray for volume.
