Hilary Duff will be joining the cast of "Gossip Girl" this fall as Olivia Burke, college roommate to Vanessa at NYU. Ironically enough, Olivia is a former child star, and a potential love interest for one Dan Humphrey. I can't see that happening.
Years ago, when Duff was still in her teens, there were rumors that both she and Lindsay Lohan were being looked at to star in a film version of "Gossip Girl". At the time, Lohan was rumored to be taking up the role of Blair Waldorf. That would've gone over really well -- you know, with the years-long feud between the two stars over pop singer Aaron Carter.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Duff has only signed on as a guest star and not as a series regular. Her debut on the show is scheduled for October 5.
In other Hilary Duff news -- of which there is a strangely large amount of this week, former Republican Presidential nominee John McCain's daughter Meghan told NY's Daily News that she would choose Duff to play her in a movie: "I want Hilary Duff to play me. I think she's really hot -- hotter than me -- but I'd still want her to play me." McCain is currently writing a book that is "half political and ... half a memoir."
