That is the big scoop from Montreal.  Well, OK not such a big scoop, but definitely worth with a double take.  One of the things about these kind of events is that it gets covered by every type of media outlet, including E!  It is always good to watch what they come up with to talk to the players about.

It was amusing to watch the crew from E! interview Thornton.  They informed him that they had decided he was one of the "Hot Guys in Hockey" and wanted to know how he felt about it.

What's he going to say?  Being the nice guy that he is Thornton said he was flattered.  As if that wasn't enough, E! then asked him who else in the NHL he thought was hot...and being a good sport he answered Luongo, "a nice, dark, good-looking Italian guy."

Immediately following the fluff questions, Thornton was asked by the Canadian media who at the game really stood out in his mind as outstanding players.  First guy Thornton names is Luongo again.

I couldn't resist when my turn came then to ask him what he thought the odds were that a guy he thought was hot was also good?

He said maybe I shouldn't quite word it quite that way.

Thornton's a good kid.  I met him the first time the day he was drafted and have watched him grow and mature over the last years.  He's grown into his skin and into his spot with the Sharks, who seem to be hitting their stride at just the right time.

"I have grown so much.  You come into this league and you're not really sure of yourself.  You're 18 and trying to figure it out.

"Now it just feels natural, talking to people and talking to your peers.  You grow as a person and I have in the 11 years that I've been in the league.

"I always thought I was going to be a Bruin for life, and when I moved to the Sharks, it seems like I've always been a Shark.  I love the area, I love the fans.  We have a good passionate fan base there and I call it home.

"It's an incredible honor to be named a captain here in Montreal.  My dad was a huge fan of Jean Beliveau and I love the history of this game."

As for trash talking his friends?

"There might be a little chirping going on during the game.  But mostly it will be laughing."
