The July Issue of Vanity Fair features a wonderful interview with Johnny Depp that anyone living and loving Chicago should check out.
Johnny Depp was in Chicago most of last year to film the John Dillinger biopic Public Enemies and in the Vanity Fair interview he talks quite nicely about our beloved city. Highlighting restaurants and attractions in River North, Lakeview and the South Loop.
"Although Depp, eons ago, had filmed a television episode in Chicago, Public Enemies was his first prolonged exposure to what has since become his favorite American city. "Everybody (in Chicago) treated me normal," Depp says, "They'd say, 'Hey, Johnny," then left me alone." Depp regularly drank at the Kerryman, and Irish pub and restaurant at Clark and Erie. He ate at Gene & Georgetti, the famed Chicago steak house, set snug under the the El tracks. "I visited the Art Institute and the Chicago Music Exchange. I loved looking out the car window at all those incredible neighborhoods and architecture."
It makes me feel so good when someone has a wonderful experience with Chicago. I am glad that Mr. Depp had a wonderful experience here in Chicago and took the time to let the world know about it!
