Remember “90210/Melrose” nights? They’re back!
The new “90210” will air at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays this fall, followed by the new “Melrose Place” at 9 p.m. View
ers of early 1990s television may remember that Fox once aired the original “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place” back-to-back on Wednesday nights, allowing fans to get a double-dose of the Los Angeles-based dramas.
“Melrose Place” originally aired in 1992 as a spin-off of “Beverly Hills, 90210” with handyman Jake Hanson (played by Grant Show) catching the eye of a young Kelly Taylor (a role still played by Jennie Garth). Jake then left Kelly behind to move into “Melrose Place,” where even more hookups and breakups would occur.
There may also be some character crossover between the two new shows as well, according to Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment for the CW.
The new cast of “Melrose Place” includes Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Katie Cassidy. Stars of the original series are also set to return, including Laura Leighton (Sydney Andrews) and Thomas Calabro (Dr. Michael Mancini). The casting follows suit of the new “90210” with original cast members such as Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh), Tori Spelling (Donna Martin), and Joe E. Tata (Nat Bussichio) also making appearances.
Now viewers of a whole new generation will have the same chance to follow the teenagers at West Beverly Hills High and the twentysomethings at the infamous complex on Melrose Avenue.
