Barack Obama, the country's first black president is also one of the most popular. His image has graced the covers of countless magazines from Ebony to Time. He's even more popular in comic books, he's teamed up with Spiderman and receives the endorsement of the Savage Dragon. One of his counterparts in another dimension is both the president and that dimension's Superman. That version teams up with the "main" Superman in order to stop the villainous "Darkseid" from destroying all of existence.
However one of the most imaginative and entertaining versions is just about to hit the comic book stores next week. "Barack the Barbarian," is the brainchild of the legendary Larry Hama. Older comic book fans will remember his run on the magnificent "Conan" series from Marvel comics. Newer fans will no doubt be familiar with his work on the G.I. Joe series from both IDW publishing and Devil's Due Publishing.  Now Larry has returned to his warrior's roots and created this hilarious blend of political satire and Sword and Sorcery.
As Devil's Due Publishing website explains." From a far away land rises a mighty hero. The son of peasants from two different realms, the one known only as Barack protects the people of Merika at all costs.  Watch as he takes on the likes of Boosh the Dim, Red Sarah and the evil Vizier Harry Burden."
Also the diabolical, Chaney "the grim," in this hilarious first issue! Larry Hama also includes Barack's cleverly disguised former opponents now allies Hilary and Bill Clinton as "Hilaria and her support from the Cult of Bill."
"Barack The Barbarian" hits store shelves June 24th,2009. Reserve your copy and the variant edition with "Red Sara" on the cover now(She's never looked this good). You can even meet the creators Larry Hama and artist Chris Schons and Tim Seely also on June 24th,2009 at Wonder World comics in Taylor.
