The Xbox Live Arcade is one of the best features of owning an Xbox 360. While there are many new hit games like Castle Crashers or Braid, there are also a lot of great titles that you can find for only 400 Microsoft Points, which is just five dollars. Here is a list of the top 10 XBLA games that you can buy for five dollars or less.

 #10 Worms

Worms is a turn based strategy game where you control a team of four worms facing off against other teams of worms that can either be controlled by a friend next to you, a computer, or an opponent via online multiplayer. The object of the game is to destroy the other team using a variety of weapons at your disposal. It never gets tiring seeing a worm use a bazooka or throwing an exploding sheep at someone. Worms is a great party game as well.

 #9 Wolfenstein 3D

This title was added to XBLA only recently but it is already one of the best. Wolfenstein 3D was one of the first shooting games that I spent hours on my PC playing as a kid. While the graphics may be a bit outdated, the game is still a classic. This version isn't edited like the Nintendo version was so all of the blood and hilarious yelling Germans are still intact. Includes all six episodes of the game.

 #8 Golden Axe

Another classic title ported straight from the arcade. Golden Axe is a beat 'em up style game with very simple controls and three characters to choose from. Multiplayer co-op is one of the best features allowing you to play with a buddy just like you were in the arcade (without spending the quarters) and the XBLA arcade version has updated graphics and sound.

 #7 Geometry Wars Evolved

At first, I didn't like this game. The game is sort of like asteroids on steroids as you are a little spaceship flying around shooting at shapes that are trying to destroy you. After awhile, it gets very hectic with almost the entire screen filled up with stuff coming at you and it takes a bit of knowledge about the game to be good. After awhile, though, the game began to grow on me and I started to see why it was so highly acclaimed. This game is good for both hardcore and casual gamers.

 #6 Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Perhaps the best Sonic game of all time, Sonic 2 is a steal at only 400 Microsoft Points. This game has a lot of replayability and is just all around fun. The leaderboards add a new element to Sonic with the ability to compete with friends in speed runs and high scores. While the multiplayer races are kind of shoddy, the single player and co-op mode with Sonic and Tails offers more than enough fun to last for hours.

 #5 TMNT 1989 Arcade

Yet another classic beat 'em up from days when arcades were popular. This title is held in such high esteem, many people even prefer it to Turtles in Time, which is often hailed as the best Turtles beat 'em up game ever made. With four player co-op online, TMNT 1989 Arcade is a great game to play with friends.

 #4 Streets of Rage 2

Perhaps this game is only so high on the list because it is my absolute favorite game from the Sega Genesis but Streets of Rage 2 is, in my opinion, the best beat 'em up game of all time (beat 'em up games were popular in those days so that's why you see so many here). With an amazing soundtrack and really fun co-op gameplay, if there is even one game on this list that you end up purchasing, this game should be the one. Even the online duels which usually suck in games like these are actually fun.

 #3 UNO

Uno is the most popular XBLA game with over one million downloads and one of the most played games on Xbox Live. The game is even played competitively with a very active ladder on Gamebattles. Since Uno isn't hard, it can be good mindless fun with friends or alone. Partner Uno is my favorite gametype where you are on a team with the person across from you. A word of warning, however, make sure you have the Xbox Live camera option off or you may see things on cam you would not want to see!

 #2 DOOM

One of the best shootering games of all time, Doom was the predecessor for modern day first person shooter games. If you don't mind seeing massive amounts of blood and gore, then you need to play this game. It's hard to believe such an awesome game only costs 400 Microsoft points. What could beat this out for #1?

 #1 Aegis Wing

Aegis Wing is the best XBLA arcade game available. Why? Well first off because it's a good game. But secondly because it's free. Yep while the rest of the games on this list cost 400 Microsoft Points to purchase, Aegis Wing is completely free. You might be thinking that free games usually are terrible (like Yaris) and you would be right. Aegis Wing is a very welcome exception to this rule. The game is a sidescrolling flying shooter where you control a space ship. You will face a variety of other ships throughout each level and at the end of each stage is a boss that you must use a different tactic to beat. You have a primary weapon that you can continuously fire but there are also power up's like missiles, shields, and lasers. Aegis Wing also supports four player co-op and allows you to connect ships to create one massive super ship. Everything about this game is awesome. And it's free so what are you waiting for? Go out and download it right now!
