Homeopathic remedies

So maybe you can’t afford health insurance. Even if you can, maybe you just don’t like going to the doctor all the time. In 21st-century America, there are plenty of alternatives to the 15-minute appointment, followed by the whopper bil.

In coming weeks, they will appear in this column.

To take them in historical order, we’ll start with homeopathy. Homeopathy is a medical science discovered in the 18th century by a German, Samuel Hahnemann.  Previous weeks have covered homeopathy in Philadelphia.

It cures patients by administering tiny amounts of a particular substance, which then resonate through the cells of the body in something like a domino effect.

Its mechanism of action is not completely understood, and scientific proof of its validity contiues to trickle out, but the results of homeopathic cures speak for themselves.

Do you have an upset stomach? Try Nux Vomica, in a 1:60 dilution (or 6X) or an even stronger 1:3000 dilution (or 30C). You’ll be amazed at the effects. Or have you just sprained your ankle? Use Arnica 30C and it may clear up within hours.

If you’re wondering why smaller dilutions have a stronger effect, go figure. Scientists themselves are still puzzled, and a considerable prize has been offered to whomever can come up with the answer.
