As summer has officially begun, so has the hunt for new enjoyable locations to sit outside with friends and enjoy the season. This delightful cottage style café is an unexpected pleasure as it uses all local fruits, vegetables, and seafood from their very own produce market along with other ingredients grown by local farmers.
Leaping Lizard Café offers extremely prompt and friendly service by enthusiastic staff in an ever inviting environment. This adorable café is appropriately named as you are sure to encounter a blue-tailed lizard as you dine on one of the three outdoor patios.
Though the temperature has sky-rocketed, it is surprisingly enjoyable sitting under one of their many umbrella covered tables. While the café sees a fair share of guests during its short business hours, you will find plenty of room and quiet surroundings. Take a seat on one of the front or side patios or step into the screened porch in the back.
If cooler surroundings are your ticket, enjoy your meal or cup of coffee inside the air conditioned café. Perhaps this is a good idea, for you will be able to keep an eye on the numerous freshly made desserts. In which, the most difficult decision of your day may be choosing the dessert to go with your coffee or tea. Ensure you save room for these tempting homemade desserts served up with locally roasted coffee. If tea happens to be on your mind try one of their many flavored teas, ranging from peppermint to spiced chai.
If you only have room for a small treat, try their key lime tart. It is quite tangy and will surely make your taste buds dance with joy and is refreshing on a hot summer day. Try it with a cup of coffee or a green tea to experience a combination of stimulating

Come for coffee and dessert one day and for lunch another. Leaping Lizard Café serves a pleasing, out of the ordinary and diverse lunch. Their café sandwiches are a mouth watering success with the chicken salad sandwich a pure delight. Unlike the standard sandwiches, this flavorsome dish is made with curried peach chutney, roasted almonds and yogurt mayonnaise served on homemade bread with creamy dill potato salad and fresh fruit. This meal is unlike any in the Tidewater area and is utterly delicious.
