The family of David Carradine does not believe the actor committed suicide.
They are now asking the FBI to investigate his death after his body was found on Thursday in a Bangkok hotel closet with a rope tied around his neck, wrist, and genitals.
Mark Geragos, an attorney for brother Keith Carradine said, “They want an investigation. I would think that the people in Bangkok would want to support an investigation and allow the FBI to go over there and assist in the investigation so we can get the answers to the questions.”
Initially Bangkok police said Carradine, 72, committed suicide, but no suicide note was found.
On Friday, police revised their theory and said the actor might have died from heart failure or suffocation after releasing information that he had a rope tied around his neck and penis.
The AP reports that this announcement has led to speculation that Carradine “may have engaged in a dangerous form of sex play.”
This practice, called auto-erotic asphyxiation temporarily cuts off the supply of oxygen to the brain in an effort to heighten the effects of sexual climax.
Carradine was in Thailand to work on a film called “Stretch.”
His friends insist Carradine would not have killed himself because he just purchased a new car, was happily married, and had several films he was scheduled to work on after he finished filming in Bangkok.
The results of an autopsy performed Friday in Bangkok are not expected to be available for at least three weeks.
