This year's event of all advertising events, Super Bowl XLIII, to be played in Tampa, Florida on February 1, 2009, will add a new spin on viewer engagement.

According to AdFreak.com, several advertisers will be using the 3-D technology for spots airing in this year's Super Bowl. Among them, Dream Works will be promoting its new movie, Monsters vs. Aliens, via a 3-D trailer. The movie will release March 27th of this year.

Also, Pepsi's SoBe Lifewater will air a 60-second spot utilyzing the 3-D technology featuring its cool reptile-spokesperson, the SoBe lizard. Among others, Intel and NBC, the station airing the Super Bowl, will also use the technology to air commercial spots during this commercial break after the end of the 2nd quarter of the game.

NBC will be pushing viewers to re-use their 3-D glasses the next day for a 3-D episode of Chuck, on February 2, 2009 at 8 p.m. EST. with "Don't Chuck Your Glasses." Intel will be distributing over 125 million pairs of 3-D glasses, and will be distributed among 25,000 SoBe Lifewater displays in grocery stores, drug stores and other retail venues.
