Let’s face it, nineties family sitcoms were some of the most wholesome TV shows that were actually popular. All of the families were headed by strong and respectable figure(s) and all of their TV children had close to, if not, squeaky-clean reputations. There was the occasional episode of Full House, where Kimmy Gibbler would come home wasted from a party, but DJ and the rest of the Tanners were there to remind her that drinking was unacceptable and snap her back into Full House reality. So where are the actors/actresses who played these perfect and idealistic families today?
Full House
Bob Saget played the cleaning obsessed, loving, and hugging crazed father, Danny Tanner.

Since his role on Full House, Bob Saget became the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos and stayed on the show for seven years. Since then, he has been doing some off Broadway work and continues working on his stand-up, which is known to be very raunchy. He is also known for his foul mouth and discussing inappropriate and sometimes disturbing topics on stage.
Dave Coulier played the quirky and lovable Joey Gladstone.

Dave Coulier is one of the few family sitcom actors who continued a PG rated lifestyle. Since Full House, he has worked on family oriented projects for programs such as Pinky and the Brain, Dexter’s Laboratory, The Even Stevens Movie, According to Jim, Robot Chicken, and many others.
Candace Cameron Bure played DJ, the responsible and warm older sister to Stephanie and Michelle.

Candace Cameron Bure has not done much acting since her days on Full House. Since then, she has married NHL star, Valeri Bure and is the mother to three children. She has made many appearances on I Love the 80s and has hosted 50 Cutest Child Stars: All Grown Up.
Jodie Sweetin played the adorable wisecracking younger sister, Stephanie.

After Full House, Sweetin did not have much work and began experimenting with drugs. She quickly became addicted to methamphetamine. After an intervention staged by her Full House co-stars and a visit to rehab, Sweetin has been clean since. Today, Sweetin has a daughter, Zoie who was born in 2008.
I think we all know what happened to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen after Full House; they became enormously famous and produced a series of their own movies, music videos, books, clothing, and everything else imaginable. More recently, the twins have been in the spotlight for their fashion and lifestyle choices. The other set of Full House twins, Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit, have completely dropped off the acting radar. They have not appeared in anything since Full House and have made the conscience decision to try and lead normal lives. John Stamos has done a great deal of acting since his Uncle Jesse days; he has appeared on numerous episodes of Thieves, Jake in Progress, and ER. His TV wife, Rebecca (Lori Loughlin), has also done a great deal of acting since her Full House days. She has starred in shows such as: Hudson Street, Spin City, The Drew Carey Show, Summerland, In Case of Emergency, and 90210.
Boy Meets World

After Boy Meets World, Ben Savage earned a degree in Political Science from Stanford University. On the acting front, Ben Savage has not done much. He has appeared in lesser-known productions such as Still Standing, Chuck, Without a Trace, Car Babes, Swimming Upstream, and Making It Legal.
Danielle Fishel played the part of Topanga Lawrence, the all American girl next-door, best friend turned girlfriend of Cory Matthews.

Since Boy Meets World, Danielle Fishel has appeared in many straight to DVD movies such as National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze, Game Box 1.0, and Dorm Daze 2. Danielle Fishel had a tough time maintaining her reputation created by Boy Meets World in 2007, when she was arrested for a DUI. She has also recently become the spokesperson for Nutrisystem.
Rider Strong played Shawn Hunter, the heartthrob best friend to Cory Matthews.

Since Boy Meets World, Rider Strong has become a producer, director, and screenwriter, in addition to being an actor. He has acted in productions such as Cabin Fever, Buck Naked Arson, Kim Possible, Pepper Dennis, Spy School, and many others.
Will Friedle played Cory’s goofy yet cute older brother, Eric Matthews.

Since Boy Meets World, Will Friedle has done some acting; however, has had most of his success providing his voice for animated features. He has provided his voice for Ron Stoppable on Kim Possible, for Batman Beyond, for Lilo and Stitch, and for a character in Chicken Little.
Family Matters
Jaleel White played the uber nerdy neighbor, Steve Urkel, to the Winslow family on Family Matters.

Since Family Matters, White has done some acting in productions such as Grown Ups, Sonic Underground, Miracle Dogs Too, Boston Legal, Dreamgirls, and Call of the Wild. However, he is most known for his suicide hoax in 2006. An internet rumor had spread that Jaleel White had committed suicide in his Los Angeles apartment. It was rumored that he left behind a suicide note that had Urkel’s catchphrase “Did I do that?” quoted.
Darius McCrary played Eddie Winslow, the typical American teenage boy.

Most recently, Darius McCrary has provided his voice for the box office hits, Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He has also played many smaller roles since his days on Family Matters. In 2007, McCrary’s girlfriend, Karrine Steffans, reported that McCrary “choked her ‘til she passed out.” She also reported on a separate occasion that he ran over her foot. Oddly enough, in 2009, the two married.
Reginald VelJohnson, JoMarie Payton, and Kellie Shanygne Williams kept themselves busy after Family Matters ended. Kellie Shanygne Williams, Laura Winslow, has appeared in many TV show such as Moesha, Girlfriends, The Parkers, etc. She has also done various charity work and has received a degree in psychology from UCLA. Both Reginald VelJohnson and JoMarie Payton, Carl and Harriette Winslow, have made many appearances on numerous television programs. They have both appeared in Will & Grace. VelJohnson has also appeared in CSI, Crossing Jordan, and the Ghost Whisperer. Payton has made appearances on Girlfriends, The Parkers, Judging Amy, and The Proud Family.
