'Confessions' good for soles, er, y'know ...
Attention shoppers!
You need not hear the store intercom for the red-light, green-light or flashlight specials.
Take your cues from the Shop Girl herself, Heather Staible, and get in line (early) by 5pm for "Confessions of a Shopaholic" to appear at a free advance screening on Sunday at the Edwards Marq*e Cinema (7620 Katy Freeway, Houston 77024).
Although the film is based on a female perspective (making it a potential date movie for savvy, stylish male counterparts), part of its message is comically clear: When the shopping gets outta hand, the credit card statement keeps it real.
Access to consumer credit, unlike mortgages, is still accessible to shoppers who love the thrill of the bargain hunt. A self-imposed freeze on your credit card can only be trumped by a determined ice pick (or, perhaps, a makeshift stiletto heel).
Can men walk a mile in women's shoes when it comes to shopping? It would be a journey that would make my feet hurt. To my relief, at least while watching the movie, I'll be sitting down.
