Sarah Palin resigns as Governor of Alaska on the eve of Fourth of July with eclipses in tow.  On a sunny day in Wasilla, Alaska, in time for the nation’s 4th of July celebration of Independence Day, Sarah's announcement of her intent to resign shocked America. She will formally step down on July 26, 2009, in the year Alaska celebrates its 50th birthday as the 49th State of the United States of America. Her broadcast today marks the beginning of her independence and her family's freedom from continued public target shooting.

On July 7, 2009, the full moon lunar eclipse will occur in the sign of Capricorn and its effect can be felt +/- 4 days of the date. In Astrology, full moons signify endings and lunar eclipses signify feminine energies eclipsing out of our lives. The sign of Capricorn rules career and status, achievements and ruling bodies. The State of Alaska is now experiencing the eclipsing of a prominent feminine energy in its leadership circle.

Sarah Palin’s designated time to depart office is July 26, 2009, 4 days after the longest new moon total solar eclipse is bound to happen in the 21st century. Solar eclipses signify masculine energies eclipsing out of our lives, and Sarah’s position as the Governor of Alaska is a masculine oriented position. This total solar eclipse is in the sign of Cancer which rules home and family. As Governor of the State of Alaska, the state is Palin’s home and family.

The presence of eclipses portends fast changes in our lives. The eclipses bring about the need for change we cannot ignore. They are like storms shaking down weakened branches of a strong oak tree. In our lives they help us let go of anything that have already served its purpose or which no longer serves us. This allows for further growth and expansion to step in to our experiences. In Palin’s case, even though the Presidential Election 2008 is officially over, barbs and mud pies continued to be slung at the Governor.

One may not like Palin as a person, but as Governor, she serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard whose over 4000 members serve to protect United States interests and freedom around the world. Ironically, this freedom also includes freedom of speech which many of us have taken to the extreme. Perhaps we as the people have become conditioned to think of our elected officials as non-people and the scapegoats for all the culminating events bringing us our economic recession, fully abdicating our part in contributing to the events occurring in our lives.

After July 26, 2009, the Palins will be private citizens like the rest of us.  The effects of the Total Solar Eclipse can be felt +/- 4 days of the date, and as it is a new moon, it also brings the auspicious energy for new beginnings and a new take on life. Could it be the Universe is listening?

Perhaps the Palins could use a much needed vacation to the South Pacific, where the people are known all over the world for their hospitality, kindness and joyfulness. The eclipses bring in the power of several new moons and full moons making these times much needed holistic remedy for renewal of body-heart-mind-spirit connection. The cycle of order and chaos in the information world will continue to exist with or without the Palins actively engaged with the media. Meantime, the calm blue seas, healthy surroundings, and friendly people are balm to the soul.
