If you've ever craved a Key Lime pie (inidividually sized, so there's no need to share) or an enormously sweet & chewy snickerdoodle cookie, then hop on over to Tartes in Old City. Hidden away on a stretch of Arch Street, this tiny pink shack takes orders through the window like a Dairy Queen, but dispenses some of the most elegant desserts available in Philadelphia. Just be sure to have your order ready before you step up to the window as the women here don't tolerate any hemming & hawing when there are other customers to be served.
Although the menu changes daily, there are always a selection of tarts (recent flavors have included plum & ginger, banana creme, key lime, blackberry walnut) as well as lemon bars, assorted cupcakes, cookies, and tiny chocolate ganache cakes.
