No weapon formed against you shall prosper

Our country has without a doubt been protected by God during our first two hundred or so years. I don’t know what His reasons were, but the evidence of the truth is right there in front of us all. 

     “No weapon formed against you shall prosper …” -- Isaiah 54:17 (New King James Version)

It is my opinion that the United States of America will be protected by God as long as we have enough people who believe in Him. You can argue about whether or not we do, but God was willing to forego His judgment on Sodom if Abraham could only find ten faithful souls in the city of Sodom.

     "'Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?”  And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”'  -  Genesis 18:32 (New King James Version)

Perhaps God will have the same mercy on us, that there are enough believers in Him to allow God to continue blessing us.

To support my opinion that our country was founded on Christian principles 233 years ago I am using the Declaration of Independence, the signing of which we celebrate with great gusto on July 4th every year.

God is mentioned twice in the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, the document that founded this nation.  And, there was no doubt in the final paragraph that He was acknowledged to be our protector.

Paragraph one 

“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

Paragraph two

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it ... "

And in the final paragraph

“ … And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor — John Hancock”’

Read it very carefully: not once, but two or three times. Each time you read it the insights will come flowing to you.  By the time you have read it three times, you will feel much more deeply that you are an American..
