Although the President claims to be "95% cured" his addiction to cigarettes is one that many Americans can relate to.

Nicotine is, in fact, one of the hardest addictive habits to break.

But how about sugar?

Most Americans crave sweets, and although a little sugar in your diet may seem harmless, it is actually the cause of many health related problems. Click here to read 20 reasons sugar ruins your health.

In addition, sugar qualifies as an addictive substance for 2 reasons:

1) Having a little creates a craving for more

2) Sugar causes the body to experience withdrawal symptoms

It is no wonder that most Americans are riding the sugar roller coaster and struggle to get off. This white, sweet stuff is everywhere, and mostly in the refined form. Refined sugar is sugar that has been stripped of its natural vitamins, minerals and enzymes, leaving a substance of no nutritional value behind.

When refined sugar enters the bloodstream, glucose levels spike and the pancreas secretes insulin to maintain balance in the body. When processing excess amounts of sugar it kicks into overdrive secreting more and more insulin to process the refined sugar. This eventually leads to a condition called hypoglycemia. (click here to read about other health related sugar issues)

Many Americans often reach for a candy bar or some kind of sweet treat in the afternoon to get through the day. This is only a "quick fix" and the sugar crash is always sure to follow.  Sugar can even contribute to feelings of depression and sadness when the body is in withdrawal mode.

What's a person to do? Is there hope for getting off this sugar-coaster? You bet!

Here are 3 tips to kick your sugar habit naturally:

1) Eat a healthy breakfast. If you skip the most important meal of the day, you are setting your body up for major sugar cravings for the rest of the day.
2) Train your taste buds and tummy to love the foods provided by mother nature.  For example, by including sweet vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes) and fruits in your diet, your body will be more balanced and cravings for artificial sweets will subside.
3) Drink water. Often when the body craves sweets, it is actually dehydrated.
