Last week the Former Prime Minister of the U.K. and current Middle East Quartet envoy, Tony Blair, announced that peace could finally be achieved in the Middle East "within the year". The Press Association quotes Tony Blair in an interview with David Frost as saying, "...if everyone would commit themselves to a peaceful political negotiation to a two-state solution you could have this deal within the year." Blair goes on to applaud President Obama's recent "speech to the Muslim world" in Cairo on June 4 by stating that it was "a vital moment for the region and for the wider world." But one of the most interesting comments he made was as follows: "If President Obama gets the right partner, on the Israeli side but also on the Palestinian side, his determination to do this I have no doubt about at all [emphasis added]." Read article here.

Who could this "right partner" be that Tony Blair is referring to? Well, that question may be up for debate but it does sound very similar to something we read about in Bible Prophecy.

Revelation 6:2 introduces the infamous 1st Horseman of the Apocalypse, "I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest." Notice that the rider on the white horse holds a bow (a symbol of war) but has no arrows, signifying a peaceful victory. Notice also that this rider was given a crown, meaning he was given authority rather than taking it for himself. This "peaceful victory" is laid out a bit more specifically in Daniel 9:27, which states "He [Anti-Christ] will confirm a covenant with many [Israel] for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering." According to this passage the Anti-Christ will confirm a "peace covenant" with Israel for 7 years but will break that treaty in the middle of the seven years. Finally, the Apostle Paul warns in Thessalonians 5:3 that, "[w]hile people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."

Today many people are talking more than ever before about "peace and safety" especially as it relates to the Middle East region. There have been many attempts and many countries of the world involved in trying to bring peace to that region, but as the Bible warns "while people are saying peace and safety, destruction will come suddenly."

So is Tony Blair correct when he says that "peace" can be achieved in within the year? Well, according to Blair the only thing missing is the "right partner" and according to the Bible when that "right partner" aka "the Anti-Christ" comes along there will be peace in that region...but along with it will come sudden destruction! Are you ready?
