Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy is disappointed the tips surrounding the disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings have decreased. Hardy said he and his staff remain dedicated to the case.
Hardy maintains that Misty Croslin Cummings holds the key to the investigation because she was the last person to see Haleigh on Feb. 9.
During her interviews with authorities, Misty has been inconsistent with her account of what occurred the night Haleigh went missing.
Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, was at work when the girl went disappeared, but Misty claims she was at home sleeping at the time. Misty says she got up to use the bathroom and saw the kitchen light on. When she went to investigate, she saw the back door propped open with a brick and discovered Haleigh was gone.
According to First Coast News, Hardy said, “some the brightest minds in law enforcement have spoken to Misty and have not been able to get a clear understanding of what happened Feb. 9.”
Kim Picazio, attorney for Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield told First Coast News she and her staff have spoken to eyewitnesses who saw Misty partying away from the home the night Haleigh disappeared.
Haleigh has blond hair and brown eyes and is 3 feet tall. Please call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0800 if you have any information regarding Haleigh Cummings.
