Oprah was scheduled to interview George and Cindy Anthony in a program to air next month. This would have been their first sit-down interview since the discovery of their granddaughter Caylee’s remains on Dec. 11, 2008.
Then, on Tuesday it was announced the Anthony’s would appear on CBS’ “Early Show.” After this announcement, a spokesperson for Oprah said, “Based on the Anthony’s decision to appear on other programs, we have decided not to move forward with their interview on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ at this time.”
Maggie Rodriguez will conduct the interview with the Anthony’s on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to CBS, “Rodriguez will talk to the Anthony’s about the investigation into their granddaughter’s death, including the timeline of events leading up to the arrest of their daughter, Casey, for the crime. The Anthony’s also will talk about how their daughter is handling the prosecution’s recent decision to seek the death penalty in their case against her.”
Casey is charged with the first-degree murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee and her trial is tentative scheduled for Oct. 12.
