On January 17, 2009, a 7-year-old girl from the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park in Tracy, Calif. went missing for four hours and was brought back under the influence of muscle relaxers.
This was the same mobile home park where Sandra Cantu and her alleged killer, Melissa Huckaby lived.
According to Tracy Press, the police report of the January incident says a woman “took a 45-pound blue-eyed dark-haired girl to a park. The woman and the child were gone for four hours, from about 1:30 to after 5 p.m…. The woman who took the girl drove a purple Kia Sportage...”
The day after Sandra’s body was found inside a suitcase, police towed a purple Kia Sportage registered to Huckaby.
When the missing girl was returned, her family took her to the hospital, where it was found she had benzodiazepines—a muscle relaxer—in her bloodstream.
Because police noted the girl’s mother had alcohol on her breath and was carrying around some type of drug, authorities dismissed the incident.
Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman would not comment on the January incident because he said it is part of the ongoing murder investigation against Huckaby.
Huckaby is due in court Apr. 24 for the continuance of her arraignment.
