Melissa Huckaby says Sandra Cantu’s death ‘an accident’

Sources close to the investigation surrounding Sandra Cantu’s murder told KCRA that Melissa Huckaby said to investigators that the 8-year-old’s death was an accident.
She also admitted to writing a note she initially claimed she found in the mobile home park. The note said, “Cantu,” “suitcase,” “water,” and had the name of two streets that were near where Sandra’s body was found.
When asked if anyone else is being sought in connection with Sandra’s death, Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman told KCRA, “If there was any indication that there were any other persons who could have been involved in this crime they would have been taken into custody.”
Huckaby is scheduled to appear in court on Apr. 24 to continue her arraignment.
