This week's "True Blood" ended on both high and bloody notes. Lafayette gets attacked by three vampires and Jessica's dad may be in mortal danger. Not to mention the little matter of Maryann reducing Sam to his (natural?) canine state.
This episode did not disappoint and in fact, really kicked things up a notch. Unfortunately, it continues to shed light on some glaring weak points that are becoming more and more obvious with every new episode.
The character of Maryann has come to a critical impasse: she either has to put up or shut up. Her mysterious past and background are becoming old news. Maryann has little or no impact on the wider world of Bon Temps. The only time her character has become intriguing thus far this season was in her brief showdown with Sookie, who senses that there something not quite right with Maryann.
Speaking of Sookie, her best friend Tara's storyline isn't really growing either. Tara is not dumb-she is a wily one, so it is rather odd that she has not really questioned Tara's motives or even how Tara lives in such splendor.
Lastly, Lafayette's storyline drags a bit as well, but Nelsan Ellis is such a great actor and his chemistry with Eric so natural, that he electrifies anything he is in.
Keep the faith, Fang Bangers. The Truth Is Out There.
