Anime gamer holiday buying guide
Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece. Just a few popular anime that have video games , each a great anime and each with a game or two to pickup this holiday season. The gamer that loves anime deserves these titles this holiday season, but what are they, which games go with which anime for which system and are they any good? No worries, these licensced titles as well as a few others with anime themes will be listed below by system with a word on each. Some are good, others great, but all will seem just a bit better in the hands of a fan.
n addition to this list the big titles right now, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Bleach will each have a piece or two of ‘other’ content outlined from art books to DVD sets to trading cards. Fans will dig these, I know, I’m a gamer, an otaku and want all of this for myself. Happy shopping.
Anime on the Xbox 360
- Zoids Assault – This strategy RPG falls short of great promise. Still a great buy for fans, but for a title not really in circulation tough sell to anyone else.
- Naruto: The Broken Bond – A true delight to play mixing action with fighting set in the later storyline of Naruto, a must have for Naruto fans as well as action adventure fans on the 360.
- Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit – The last hurrah for DBZ, seems to be so. A solid title that just polishes what’s been done last-gen, but why such a limited rosters? There will be more, but this is it on next-gen for now.
- Tales of Vesperia – Anime style, excellent RPG gameplay. Any fan of fantasy anime, Record of Lodoss War, Slayers, you need this game.
Anime on the PlayStation 3
- Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm– What the Broken Bond is to 360, Ultimate Ninja Storm is to PS3, but still a bit of polish needed … and short, too short.
- Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit – Same as above, just on PS3.
- Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice – Great style, funny story elements and merging old-scholl with next-gen. A deep, long lasting title for fans of the anime.
- Valkyria Chronicles – Deep and innovative this anime looking and feeling (long cutscenes) would do well as an anime, and fans will dig it … if they play RPG’s.
Anime on the PlayStation 2
Anime on the PSP
- Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress – Little bro to the PS2 franchise. A unique story and good fighing awaits, but not much different from the first chapter.
- Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – New chapter in the FFVII universe that any anime fan worth a snuff knows about. The story gets very anime, meaning very weird. Great style.
- Wild ARMs XF – Gameplay is adequate for an on-the-go RPG. The anime style comes through and some settings will be familiar to fans of the not-related anime.
Anime on the Nintendo Wii
