Still no word on Cotto fight!

Bob Arum just announced a new boxing series aimed at the rabid Filipino fight fans called Pinoy Power. It is similar in concept to the on going Latin Fury series aimed at Hispanics.

None of this would be possible without Manny Pacquiao opening the doors with his being the top fighter in the world and his charisma.

Boxing is a niche sport, at least in America, It's not main stream in fans nor media.

Following World War II, the world seemed much simpler than it is today. Boxing was the No.2 sport in the land behind only baseball. The mass exodus of Jews and Italians from the inner cities to the suburbs crushed boxing. Other than mega fights, boxing is still on it's back.

Pinoy Power and Latin Fury are a good allocation of resources for Arum or any promoter with creativity and the resources and dedication to building. Many promoters are stuck in neutral because they are waiting for a casino to call them and say "take our money." Those good old days are over.

These promoters believe "marketing" is stealing fighters away rather than making a long-term investment.

Arum is developing his fan base, media coverage and giving his fighters a chance to develop in the Hispanic and Filipino markets.
