You have to love a politician like House Speaker Prospero Nograles of The Philippines. He must be as popular as Floyd Mayweather, Jr. or Gary Shaw over there.
From an American perspective, Nograles has made it big time. His gigantic ego has successfully put him in range of most American politicians. In fact, he takes a backseat in this regard to nobody in America.
What Nograles has done is successfully blame the victims of the recent typhoons for all their problems.
The people and families that have lost their lives or have seen their homes float by them or have no electricity back or financial aid or medical aid from the hurricanes or deadly mudslides.
These people have actually inconvenienced him regarding flying to America to be seen on camera with Manny Pacquiao.
But he will suck up this obvious indignity toward him and fly to Las Vegas anyway.
This puts Senator Villar to shame for only showing up during an HBO 24/7 taping a couple of weeks before the fight. Nograles is actually going to the fight!
Nograles says he wouldn't actually miss much work. That he is using mileage points to pay for the junket to Las Vegas. Yea, maybe. But I bet he has at least three phones in his luxury hotel suite to call fancy room service. I wonder what he will be ordering and who ends up paying for it?
And if he finds the time, he will ask Manny Pacquiao to make another financial contribution to the cause. Can't he just write him a letter or email him or adviser Michael Koncz?
And when he has been in America in the past for Pacquiao fights, Pacquiao has won!
Well, that ought to cover it. Case closed! Nograles has justified his trip to America to me.
If he ever gets voted out of office in The Philippines, he would fit in here perfectly with most American congressman or lobbyists in Washington, DC.
Who does this guy think he is? Michael Koncz?
Does Nograles have the nerve to replace conditioning coach Alex Ariza and be extra man in the Pacquiao corner on fight night? Who would throw the proverbial five - punch initiation combination at him? Ariza or Koncz?
Does HBO have time to include him in the next 24/7 episode? Does Nograles get script approval?
Nograles is living the American dream.
I'm just asking. Do you love this guy? Is he really representing you? Can't he watch it at home and not make himself an issue during "Fight Week."
My advice to The Speaker: If you are already in a hole, stop digging.
