A half-hour HD special, produced by Sesame Workshop (the non profit behind Sesame Street) and David Letterman's World Wide Pants, will air on PBS on the first day of the Month of the Military Child. The special is designed for young children and their parents, but is a great example to anyone of what many military families face when a family member comes home from war injured. That the release is scheduled for the "Month of the Military Child," is no accident. Airing in primetime, COMING HOME: MILITARY FAMILIES COPE WITH CHANGE explores the challenges and struggles of military families whose service members return home traumatized by both physical and emotional injuries.
The special, starring Queen Latifah, John Mayer and the beloved Elmo, will honor the courage of both service members and their families as it explores the exceptional challenges they face and the ways they find to live with their "new normal."
