The infamous Hammer doll

Apparently MC Hammer isn’t too legit to cut a reality show deal. The show, appropriately called Hammertime, will focus on the once multi-platinum selling rapper as he attempts to re-launch his career.

Don’t expect to see shiny suits and gaudy jewelry. Instead the series follows Hammer (real name Stanley Burrell), his wife of 24 years Stephanie and their 6 children as they live out their middle class but not so quiet lives in Tracy, California. The entertainer gene must run in the family. Several of his kids sing, dance and write their own songs. Hammer has also gotten into the social networking business, co-founding the site DanceJam in 2007. The site allows users to upload videos of themselves dancing as well as rate other submissions.

Hammertime premiers Sunday June 14 on A&E. Until then, you can check out the show’s trailer below.
