Four straight losses and nine defeats in the last 10 games make this the roughest stretch in an already seemingly lost season.

Nothing has gone right for Omaha lately, and if there was any hope that getting a longer than normal breather, and getting away from Rosenblatt would improve the team’s chance, that seems to have been dashed for now.

Last night it was Lenny DiNardo’s turn to regress. DiNardo had surrendered just two runs over his last 20+ innings, and had lowered his ERA to 3.20 coming into the game. Lenny struggled early and often in his latest outing, including blowing a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Kila Ka’aihue had staked Omaha to their slim lead with a one out double, driving in Irving Falu in the top of the first, but the Iowa Cubs managed three hits and two runs of their own and took a 2-1 lead. The score stood that way until the game was broken open in the 6th, as Iowa chased DiNardo with three straight singles, loading the bases, and scored three times after he was gone.

Cory Aldridge hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh, but Omaha’s offense went stagnant, as Iowa’s continued tacking on, scoring one in the seventh, and three more in the eighth, salting away the 9-2 victory.

Omaha’s cold streak coincides with Nashville’s hot one, and the Royals now sit 10.5 in back of first place, and a full six games behind third place, firmly cementing themselves in the cellar of the PCL American North.
