I love you Ed, but when you're slamming a creationist for getting the age of the earth wrong, and especially when you're quoting my pal Phil Plait's blog in the process, it's important you get the date right, too.

No, the actual estimate based on several methods of radiometric dating of samples from earth, the moon, and meteorites is 4.54 billion years, plus or minus one per cent. One billion is off by a factor of about four and six thousand is off by a magnitude of six, and yes there's a huge, huge difference in accuracy there to the tune of half a dozen decimal places. But both are wrong enough that you'd lose the points on a multiple choice geology quiz.
