Many are facing either being unemployed or thinking they might sooon be unemployed.  None will disagree that we are in an "economic downturn".  Employers are looking for leaders to effect change, increase productivity as well as provide guidance for their team, and the organization.

Those who demonstrate the following qualities have leadership potential:

Do you possess them?

- Decisiveness    The ability to make the tough decisions.  Do you have the gumption to act independently?

-Integrity  Your actions match your words.  This builds trust from others in your organization.

- Trust  The ability to engender respect, confidence and belief in your actions.

- Value diversity.  Everyone's opinion matters.

- Performance  What are the results of your actions?

Having leadership potential may  mean the difference between being employed or getting that new position.

As Diane Ravitch, a noted historian who often writes on leadership, "The person who knows HOW will always have a job...But,the person who knows WHY will always be the boss".
