According to MSNBC's "The Scoop," there's a possibility that the soon-to-be First Family will get, not one, but TWO puppies for Malia and Sasha.
MSNBC cites "[a] source with ties to the national branch of the American Kennel Club source" as saying:
A dog from a shelter is almost a given, but there's the problem of shedding and Malia's allergies. Getting a second dog at the same time, one that is purebred and has the least chance of shedding, hasn't been ruled out. It's a good solution that will make everyone happy, most of all, Malia.
Huh? I'm confused. The quote seems to assume that a second dog is necessary because a shelter dog will shed and aggravate Malia's well-known dog allergy. But (a) that's not true; lots of shelter dogs are purebreds or hybrid mixes known to be low-shedding; and (b) how does having a second purebred dog alleviate any allergies that a shelter dog may cause?
We'll just have to see about this one.
