The redesigned 2010 Ford Taurus is among the many
upcoming products on display at the Washington Auto
 Show. (photos by Brady Holt)

The two biggest auto shows in the United States are in Los Angeles and Detroit. That's where automakers unveil most of their unpcoming products and concept cars.

And because Washington's auto show comes just after those, the D.C. area is among the first of the dozens of smaller shows to get a look at all these new products.

I've stressed time and again in this space that you need to go to the auto show yourself. It's a good way to go car-shopping, and you can pick up $50 from the Ford booth to boot.

But for those of you who can't go to the show -- or want to see what's there before you do go (you have just today and tomorrow) -- you have lots of photos to look at. Click the links to see the cars you're most interested in, and let me know in an e-mail or comment if there's something missing that you'd like to see added.

(Following the spirit of the show's organizers, you'll find photos of strange but environmentally-friendly vehicles more than expensive exotic cars. That's in no small part because there were no crowds blocking the camera around the strange but environmentally-friendly vehicles, while there were around the Rolls-Royces.)

2009 Audi R8: Despite the comment above, the R8 is an expensive exotic car. But it's one of those cars that's always worth taking pictures of.
