All right, readers! It's time to find out who you would cast in the movie of Stephenie Meyer's "The Host". If you haven't read this book, I highly suggest you do. It's a fantastic next step in Stephenie's writing, especially for those who loved "Twilight" but felt like it lacked a more adult feel. If you have not read the book, here is a synopsis, but there are spoilers ahead in this post!

According to Amazon.com, from Publishers Weekly, "In this tantalizing SF thriller, planet-hopping parasites are inserting their silvery centipede selves into human brains, curing cancer, eliminating war and turning Earth into paradise. But some people want Earth back, warts and all, especially Melanie Stryder, who refuses to surrender, even after being captured in Chicago and becoming a host for a soul called Wanderer. Melanie uses her surviving brain cells to persuade Wanderer to help search for her loved ones in the Arizona desert. When the pair find Melanie's brother and her boyfriend in a hidden rebel cell led by her uncle, Wanderer is at first hated. Once the rebels accept Wanderer, whom they dub Wanda, Wanda's whole perspective on humanity changes. While the straightforward narrative is short on detail about the invasion and its stunning aftermath, it shines with romantic intrigue, especially when a love triangle (or quadrangle?!) develops for Wanda/Melanie."

We will begin by casting Melanie Stryder, the host body that Wanderer takes over. She's described as a brunette, quite a bad ass, if you remember, and she's beautiful. The names I'd like to throw in for consideration (to get the pot boiling) are:

Kristen Stewart (because she's a bad ass)

Megan Fox

Evangeline Lilly

Natalie Portman

Shannyn Sossamon

Missy Peregrym

and gosh... who else? I'm drawing a blank.

Wanderer/Wanda: (remember, this is the sweet "body" that they find at the end.)

Ian O'Shea: (Casey Affleck? This is who Stephenie says she had in mind.)

Kyle O'Shea: (Ben Affleck? Stephenie had him in mind.)

Jared Howe: (Matt Damon? Stephenie had him in mind.)

Jamie Stryder:

Uncle Jebediah:

Doc:

The Seeker: (Helena Bonham Carter?)

Leave your votes in the comments, or email me, and I will add them to the poll. Then you can vote and we will cast "The Host"! You can also leave comments for any of the other characters, because they'll all have their own polls. I'll add them all at once, so you can sign off on your ballot. Comments will be counted until June 25th, and then I will create all the polls!
