Miami, FL (October 27, 2008). Scheduled for December 3-7, 2008, with a Private Preview on December 2, the third edition of RED DOT FAIR will take place in Miami’s newest Wynwood Art District locale: Midtown Miami. Designed as a fashionable urban complex of luxury condos and outdoor shopping center, Midtown Miami will simultaneously host an unprecedented eight art fairs and cultural events during the Art Basel Miami Beach festivities.
Red Dot features forty galleries from across the U.S., Spain, the UK, Mexico, Venezuela and Puerto Rico that will exhibit engaging modern and contemporary painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. Several participants with a strong history in the Miami market include Kreisler Galeria, Madrid; Ginocchio Galeria; Mexico City; Scott Richards Contemporpary Art, San Francisco; Joan Guaita Art, Palma de Mallorca; Jill George Gallery, London; Jenkins Johnson Gallery, New York/San Francisco; Turner Carroll Gallery, Santa Fe. Red Dot also welcomes many first time galleries to Miami, including the prestigious LewAllen Contemporary; Eric Firestone Gallery, Scottsdale; and The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, London, among many others.
Reflecting the growing importance of Latin American art in collections worldwide is a notable group of Latin American artists presented by galleries such as Gomez Fine Art –Galeria of Puerto Rico, Art Nouveau of Venezuela, Arevalo Arte of Miami, and Kunsthaus Santa Fe of Mexico, in addition to those mentioned above.
Red Dot is proud to forge a niche in the dynamic Miami market for galleries committed to presenting significant and accessible work beyond the borders of fashionable trends. Moreover, Red Dot Miami provides both new and veteran collectors an opportunity to discover a sophisticated roster of exhibitors in a professional and lively setting. The 30,000 square foot high-ceilinged, air-conditioned structure provides an open environment with wide aisles, indoor and outdoor cafes and a fantastic selection of artwork.
The Midtown Miami complex—just minutes across the Bay from the Convention Center—will change the way visitors navigate the now-world-famous annual art scene. Midtown Miami is the new hub, with its safe and beautiful streets, green spaces, shops, and ample garage parking. Convenient valet parking and shuttle buses coordinated by all the Miami-based fairs only add to the pleasurable experience, not to mention an alluring mix of fairs that meet the needs and expectations of all collectors—from emerging North American and Latin American to the hottest contemporary Asian to the most established European modern art.
Red Dot is organized by George Billis and a very dedicated New York staff, along with Miami-based veteran art fair producer Ilana Vardy.
