New Yorkers - How to Market Your Brand?

You’ve got the idea, the design, you got the money and you have the inspiration, but you need a way to get the word out on your product and market your brand.  After all the work and effort you have put into securing your product, it should be easy to market your brand.  Ideas and concepts should just be rolling around in your head.  As the new business person, you have to know that creating something sellable is only one part of the equation.  You also have to publicize your brand and cause some degree of buzz.

This can be easy if you stop for a moment and thinking about what it is you want to say about your product.  What is your brand saying to other and why you created the design in the first place?  As a business owner if you have an idea or design that showcases the radical nature in your company, this will help you decide on what kind of promotion you wish to do.  If it is more conservative, then this will take you in another direction.  Once you answer these questions, you will have much of what you need to market your brand.

Getting started on marketing requires contacting the right people.  You can start where you are with this process.  Like most people, you have friends and family that can help.  In addition to your personal contacts, you also have business contacts you can solicit to let them know about your business.  Also, you can create a blog to discuss the process of your business.  This will be important later after your success.  You can then look back on it, to see how hard you worked to get where are today. 

Be sure to use social media for your business as well and your personal life.  This is one of the quickest and fastest ways to let people know what is going on with your company.  Attend festival, showcases and business expos to show samples of your work.  At your booth, you can display your designs for all who attend to see.  Be sure to have business cards on hand to pass out as well. 

Tell as many people as you can about your product no matter whatever setting you may find yourself in.  The more you get the word out the most people will be taking about your particular brand.  At that point, the product will almost sell themselves.
