If you are a seasoned corporate event coordinator, you understand the need to start planning a corporate holiday party early; even as early as 6 months. However, if you are getting a late start, don’t worry; it is still possible to make it happen.
Although the downturn in the economy has created a negative impact in many organizations, it is actually the reason why you will be able to successfully complete your holiday party planning before the end of the year.
Venues – Call around; and don’t hesitate to reach out to popular venues. They may just surprise you… they may even open up a location that is rarely used for special event. I recently reached out to a boutique hotel in San Diego. We had our date set and the event room I requested was not available. However, they provided me the option of holding our holiday party in their hotel restaurant, something they rarely do.
DJ’s – Again, call around. During my search for a DJ, I contacted someone who wasn’t available on the day of our event. However, he reached out to someone he knew and referred his friend to me. You will find that vendors are helping each other out. Tough times call for vendors to band together.
Entertainment – Same suggestion…just call around and you will find someone. When I reached out to a casino vendor here in San Diego, he mentioned that you will find more vendors available during this season. There are fewer companies holding holiday parties this year. He also mentioned that if you have flexibility on your event date, you will definitely find vendors…and venues.
So, take deep and release that stress you may be feeling because you have not yet planned your holiday party. It’s not too late. Go ahead, pick up that phone and begin your holiday party planning.
