The following list contains 10 local lady bloggers who are kicking major Web butt. They've started their own blogs or Web sites on informative topics, and, well, they're clearly passionate about what they contribute. For the sake of shining light on blogs/sites that may not garner all the attention they deserve, this list steers clear of any blog associated with a big-name, traffic-driving Web site. These following ladies are self-starters with a Web presence that is definitely worth recognizing. And if you or anyone you know has a kick ass local blog or Web site that's not as well-known as it should be, e-mail the link to brithorvat@gmail.com or simply post it as a comment. Happy surfing!

She’ll enlighten you and inspire you to make changes in places you never thought possible.
Weaving in and out of almost every intersection of Denver is Renee Mudd, a young gal in search of the city's most inspiring and expressive fashions and street style. She's currently a digital/graphic design student at the University of Colorado Denver. "The truth is, anyone can buy a designer outfit, put it on and call it their own; that's not style. It's how one chooses to mix and match and create their own sense of style day in and day out that fascinates me," Mudd says. She also has a fabulous photo blog: DAILYIMAGE.
This blog contains the thoughts and ramblings of Denver gal Alexis Gentry, the creator and editor of Trashwire.com, a pop culture Web site. Gentry is a George Washington University grad who works for the Colorado Film Commission. From super local to national happenings, ‘Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me!’ will fulfill your craving for celeb gossip/news in an ironically not-so-trashy way.
Due to all the press on The Fabric Lab, Denver’s super hip men’s/women’s fashion store owned by Josh and Tran Wills, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the place. But do you know about their blog? If you’re searching for a community of all things independent, art, design and Denver happenings, you must bookmark The Fabric Lab blog. Tran not only promotes events and news for the store, but it’s a great one-stop shop for links to other great local businesses and Denver designers. And if that’s not enough, this dynamic duo has another great new store with a blog-o-fun to go with it: The Shoppe.
- Colorado Auto Info – The Colorado Woman’s Guide to the Auto Industry
Laura Ryan is your go-to gal for auto industry information in the North metro Denver area. Why? She’s been with the industry for 11 years. On her Web site, Colorado Auto Info, her ultimate challenge is to find as many women- and family-friendly auto/motorcycle/RV/motorsports dealers possible and report her findings back to her site.
- Fancy Tiger – a blog for a D.I.Y. boutique in Denver
Jaime, of Denver, runs local craft store Fancy Tiger and tackles its blog with tips, updates and links to all things crafty, pretty and fun. This boutique specializes in independently designed/made apparel, accessories and craft supplies. A great find!
- designklub – a meeting place for design, style and craft
Jaime Kopke, a local Denverite, is the writer and editor of designklub, a Web site dedicated to cutting-edge modern product design. Though designklub serves an international audience, Kopke also dedicates a portion of the site to promoting local designers and Denver area design events. It’s an open community for design enthusiasts!
Sarah, aka Sweet B, of Denver, has entirely too much fun with all the weirdness and awesomeness that comes with being a girl. Her main interests - music, filmmaking, over-the-top social criticism, etc. - are interests that are typically known as being male-dominated. “I like showing that girls are there too ... which shouldn't be a shock to anyone at all, but it happens,” she says. If you’re looking to giggle and blush while working your brain, Sarah’s your girl.
Sara, aka Sports Racer of the Denver Roller Dolls, is a freelance writer who keeps up an entertaining blog. From playlists to loving the single life to all things Roller Dolls, Sara doesn’t shy away from speaking her mind or letting people know what’s up in her neighborhood.
Kelly, aka Dulce De Mentia of the Denver Roller Dolls, is HI-LAR-I-OUS! Her most recent entry with fake poop photos is pretty priceless. She too is a sucker for playlists, and you can always count on a good laugh from the gal – especially as she shamelessly documents her injuries from a recent roller derby bout. Here’s an excerpt:
During my time at the venue, I got 3 really cool injuries of note:
- An elbow to the throat, which is still a little tender, but not bruised.
- A fist to the cheek, which didn't hurt in the moment, and wasn't so bad after a few hours or so.
- A fall over another skater the fell right in front of me, resulting in me being Superman for a second and eating sh!t on the floor chin, then mouth first. The souvenir from that fall is one of the most glorious bruises I have ever had right on display for all to see.

To your list I would add Angora Holly Polo of the Donnybrook Writing Academy. She is a fantastic human being and an ace writer. She and a few friends founded the blog last year and now commands a stable of over 15 Denver writers who deliver satire, pop culture commentary, and music, music, music. Their intimacy with Denver's best music blows everybody else off the page. They even started promoting their own events featuring these bands. I read it every day. GoDonnybrook.com
