Biggest Loser season 11 week 18 recap: Makeover week!

Biggest Loser season 11 week 18: Fairytale makeovers, a double-car challenge and one final miracle at the scale.

“Oh, my God, it’s Tim Gunn!” Olivia exclaimed as the fashion maven clippity-clopped up in a horse-drawn carriage. As their fashion fairy godfather, he’ll be dressing them for makeover week. But first he poofed (seriously!) them over to Ken Paves’ salon to get their hair did.

Then – holy crap! – Hannah stepped out of Cinderella’s carriage looking like Lana Turner with blond hair.

Quote of the week, from Hannah’s dad as he saw his daughter in all her evening gown finery: “Yeah, I’m gonna have t’get me a bigger gun.”

Cutest moment: Olivia and her husband have both lost 99 pounds – she on the ranch and he at home. More cuteness: Her hair!

Yes, Austin did get that silly hair tamed but he left it cute ‘n’ curly -- he still has the facial fuzz, though.

We got to see Irene (also blond) and also her mom, Ana, who has lost 75 pounds. Ana was one of the first eliminated from the ranch.

Tim called Jay “royalty” but to me he looked like a really fit butler. His son was thrilled to see him.  (Wonder why they didn’t bring his daughter Jen back?)

Then, all done up for Biggest Loser Prom, the contestants and their guests were serenaded by the band OneRepublic. (Did you catch Austin dancing with Alison?)

OK, fairytale over. Time for a challenge. Winner gets a car! Wait, there are two cars! There are 50 little car-shaped sandcastles that hide car keys. Contestants need to dig out those keys and run over to those cars to see if the keys work. Irene won the first car and she’s giving it to Mom. While Irene chilled, the other four contestants dug and ran, dug and ran. And nearly two hours into it, Olivia won the second car.

Weigh-in:  Bob’s obviously not thrilled during Makeover Week. Too much primping and not enough schvitzing for him. But how did they do?

  • Hannah: 2
  • Jay: 3
  • Austin: 7
  • Irene: 2
  • Olivia: 4

Olivia promised that when she hit the 100-pound mark she would work her opera magic on the scale. And with her 4-pound loss, she sang like a dream, making the other contestants and trainers swoon in awe.

So Hannah and Jay were below the yellow line, and then … Fairy Godfather Tim Gunn appeared and – whoosh! – the yellow line disappeared. That’s right, no one’s going home this week.

Man, these one-hour episodes are rough! The makeover magic was far too truncated.
