HOW TO USE AN AISLE RUNNER IN YOUR GORGEOUS ATLANTA WEDDING CEREMONY!

Let me begin by saying that aisle runners are used for formal and semi-formal wedding ceremonies.  Anything other than this and they can appear to be “tacky” or you can be accused of being clueless about giving a wedding ceremony.  So let’s be clear for you right away - aisle runners are used for formal and semi-formal wedding ceremonies – nothing more and nothing less.

The use of an aisle runner for a wedding is a magnificent way to provide a regal touch to the marriage processional and recessional.  If the aisle runner is used outside on a grass lawn, it has to be secured to the ground in a way so that it does not blow in the wind or bunch up from the foot traffic.  Aisle runners outdoors should ideally be attached to a concrete base or to plywood. High heels will poke through the runner on soft ground.  Also, take the time to secure all fabric to the wood with staples.

Aisle runners are sometimes provided by the florist (as are candle holders, unity candle sets, and arches).  They vary in size as determined by the walking distance of the bride or length of the aisle. Most are paper but the thicker ones are often carpet.

Your aisle runner will usually be unrolled by groomsmen or ushers – just be sure it doesn’t interfere with the flow of the ceremony.  Decide in advance who will do this and go over the logistics thoroughly.  After the bride exits, have someone designated to roll up the runner so that it is not in the way.  You can then discard of it, save it as a keepsake, or even put it on e-bay!  Let us know of any thoughts or suggestions at www.wedgeorgia.com
