Two Monkees cite business reasons for tour cancellation

In statements posted today on their respective Facebook pages, Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz both said business reasons were why the remaining dates on the Monkees 45th anniversary tour were abruptly cancelled on Monday.

Micky Dolenz issued a statement that read:

The Monkee Tour has, indeed, been cancelled but for reasons that I cannot discuss at this time.I can say that the reasons pertain to business and are internal matters only.Needless to say, I am disappointed but the situation was unavoidable and I want to apologize to all the fans out there who will not be able to experience what was a wonderful show indeed. I also want to add that my solo tour, which started in Long Island on 7/22, continues through the end of the year.

Peter Tork's statement on his Facebook page read:

Dear Fans and Friends,

I am writing to confirm that the Monkees tour has been cancelled for reasons that I cannot discuss at this time. I can only say that it has to do with business matters. I sincerely regret that it is not possible to continue this wonderful tour. I especially regret the inconvenience to those of you whose plans have been disrupted.

Thank you for all your love and support. I hope to see you on the road sometime.

Be well,
Peter

Davy Jones' Facebook page pointed fans to Tork's statement and indicated that it was business and not health concerns that caused the tour cancellation.

In our story Monday, we reported "informed sources said the rest of the dates were not run by the group."

All three Monkees have individual live concert dates scheduled between now and the end of the year. Both Dolenz and Tork have played live shows since the first part of the Monkees tour ended. Tork played the Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis, Md. Monday night, according to his website
