The Galloping Ghost

The Galloping Ghost Arcade, located in Brookfield,IL (9415 Ogden Ave.), is a gamer's heaven. For $15.00, your inner gamer can be satisfied with their wide range of over 200 video games. It brings that nostalgia feel with games like Pac Man, Dig Dug, and even Joust. But, that is just scratching the surface.

When you walk in, you are greeted by a very nice Galloping Ghoster, who will be happy to take your admission and help you with any questions. Once you pay your admission, you're free to run around the arcade and never stop till close. The games are lined up side to side in rows, lined up together in somewhat of an orderly fashion. The games with multiple titles are obviously stacked together and most of the genres are as well. There is an entire row of fighting games ranging from Marvel vs. Capcom to Puzzle Fighter.

But, there is much more. There is also merchandise behind the counter. From video game themed energy drinks to Resident Evil mints, this place has a lot to supply you through the hours of game play.

Did I mention that all these games are unlimited free play after the admission? That's right. Hours of game play. $15.  The ever changing list is also on the website. I would love to put the entire 212 game list, however, it could change tomorrow.

With the games being free play, one might think there is not a challenge. You die in a game and you just hit the continue button. Easy, right? Well, for those gamers that want more of a challenge, the Galloping Ghost offers an Achievement Card. If you are successful with these achievements, prizes are available. Also, for our very talented gamers, there are also High Scores that need to be beat. Every arcade system has a little card on top listing the High Score that comes with the game and the High Score of the Galloping Ghost. Are you curious about these ridiculous numbers? You can check out the website.

Of course, one of the coolest assets to this arcades (aside from the unlimited play for the day and night, amazing staff, and hours of fun) is the game that is being worked on IN the arcade. Galloping Ghost Productions is a company within a company, working to make new games on the market. When you walk towards the back, there is a room off to the right where people are creating a new fighting game. You can watch this game unfold before it even hits the shelves. This seperates this arcade from the rest.

Old school gamer and big fan of The Galloping Ghost, Chase Ferguson comments, "Go there. Stop making excuses".

There is much more that awaits in this treasure of Brookfield. There are events set up, which you can check on the website, that are set up for tournaments, money off of admission, and so much more! Also, if you have a birthday coming up or even a Bachelor Party, they have private gaming rooms. Complete with comfy leather chairs, big screen televisions, and 10 consoles. Galloping Ghost will even discuss catering options as well.

This is just a fraction of how amazing this place is. So, what are you doing today? Or even tonight? Do you have $15 and the time to play unlimited games?

I've stopped in once or twice, and if anybody out there's thinking about the trip -- do it.
