Basketball great, Shaquille O’Neal, was so moved by the story of murdered 5-year-old, Shaniya Davis, he paid for the little girl's funeral, according to CNN.

Shaniya was reported missing from her Fayetteville home by her mother on Nov. 10, and the little girl's lifeless body was found Nov. 16. She had been raped, strangled, and discarded near a North Carolina highway.

Her mother, Antoinette Davis, is charged with felony child abuse and human trafficking, and Mario McNeill is charged with kidnapping, raping, and murdering Shaniya.

Shaq said he was touched by Shaniya’s story after seeing it on Nancy Grace’s show on HLN.

Although Corey Breece of Rogers and Breece Funeral Home would not disclose the cost of the service to local media, he said a child’s funeral usually costs about $4,500.

A friend of the family, Vaughn Eason, said that any money left over from the funeral will be donated to charities and other groups dedicated to assisting neglected and abused children.
