A North Carolina witness reports a cigar-shaped UFO at 6:45 p.m. on September 4, 2010, silently passing over head, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The object was described as "pretty much the shape of a standard fuselage. It shone brilliantly in the sunlight like polished aluminum. It was proceeding westward at a fairly stately pace."
But the witness says that upon a closer look, the object had "no visible wings or stabilizer."
"Indeed, I was unable to discern any wings or stabilizing structures. No lifting surfaces. Long cigar
tubular configuration. It emitted absolutely no sound my hearing could discern. Very brilliant reflective surface. No odd motion... it just proceeded along at a leisurely clip. Had a vague impression of a row of shapes along the flank not unlike standard passenger aircraft windows. May have been a white glow at rear of craft but no vapor trail."
The object then "faded into the distance."
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or man made. If North Carolina MUFON State Director John Kledis investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
NC, September 4, 2010 - Rare: known aircraft in sky @ same time, daylight sighting of slim cigar shaped craft. MUFON Case # 25319.
-I was in front yard of my residence doing some weeding. Time around 6:45 p.m. Still daylight
though sun was lowering.
-I heard a small aircraft pass over and glanced up and observed a small single prop plane
proceeding east, nothing out of ordinary. As it passed out of range a glint of sunlight
caught my attention. It was at a rather higher altitude than the small plane which had just
passed.
-Initially it seemed to be a large commercial jetliner. Pretty much the shape of a standard
fuselage. It shone brilliantly in the sunlight like polished aluminum. It was proceeding
westward at a fairly stately pace.
-I didn't think very much of it at first, even returned to my gardening. Then I realized
that there was something unusual about this aircraft... it seemed to have no visible wings
or stabilizer. I again looked up and sighted it to check out my impressions. Indeed, I
was unable to discern any wings or stabilizing structures. No lifting surfaces. Long cigar
tubular configuration. It emitted absolutely no sound my hearing could discern. Very
brilliant reflective surface. No odd motion... it just proceeded along at a leisurely clip.
Had a vague impression of a row of shapes along the flank not unlike standard
passenger aircraft windows. May have been a white glow at rear of craft but no
vapor trail.
-I was not particularly emotionally affected during or after this event, only curious and
somewhat dubious of my observational skills. However, I have since seen several
jumbo jets at even higher altitudes and could still discern their wings and hear them.
-The craft made no dramatic disappearance... simply faded into the distance.

I was in Statesville, NC on 9/4/2010. Some of my family members and I came outside to smoke a cigarette, when we noticed a strange object to the north of us. It shimmered and we could see a faint red flash go across it. It sparkled like a star but was much closer than the stars and was definitely no airplane. My aunt said it was moving, but no one else saw that YET. There were flares of light coming off both sides and one side appeared to have a tail or an oblong shape. Then I noticed that it would move slightly. At this point it was just above the treeline. I tried to snap some pics with my cell phone camera but it they were too dark. We went back inside after watching it for about 15 minutes to finish our game of boggle. about 20 minutes later, i came back outside and it was gone... I looked and looked and finally spotted it behind the treeline now...as i walked to the left of the driveway, the treeline drops off and there it was. Now, the red light and the small movements were much easier to see. The arched tale was plainly visible and the red light was more distinct. The small movements it made were clearer now. Trying to focus in on this object was hard to do because of the erratic motion of the light that went from one side to the other. We went back in for about 15 minutes and when we came back out, this time it was gone. My aunt saw it first and she does not believe in ufos, but what we saw that night was no airplane and was no star...nor was it a planet or a space station...
Excuse me...we were in Statesville on Sunday (09/05/2010) when we saw this, not Saturday.
