Political Leaders and UFOs - Global Call for Disclosure!
Unidentified aerial vehicles (UFOs), obviously not from Earth, have been seen in North America since before the United States of America was formed. Even U.S. Presidents and other political leaders have seen them and called for open disclosure of government files on UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors.
Attempts have been made to brief and lobby Federal officials to achieve full disclosure of UFO files. One champion of this effort has been Dr. Steven Greer and the Disclosure Project. Another champion is Stephen Bassett, Executive Director of the Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee (X-PPAC) which is the only registered political action committee on the extraterrestrial and UFO issue.
The Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission ballot initiative was created due to a lack of confidence by citizens that elected Federal officials have the will, courage, or competence to achieve open and honest disclosure of what the U.S. Government has known about UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors. Engaging the general public on this issue through a vote at the polls is crucial. It will create the foundation for a paradigm shift of acknowledging the role of humans on Earth in the larger galactic community.

President Harry Truman
"Oh, yes. We’ve discussed this at every conference we've had with the military. There's always things like that going on, flying saucers, this that and the other things you know..."
Former N.H. State Rep. Henry W. McElroy, Jr on YouTube video
"The document I saw was an official brief to President Eisenhower. To the best of my memory this brief was pervaded with a sense of hope, and it informed President Eisenhower of the continued presence of extraterrestrial beings here in the United States of America. The brief seemed to indicate that a meeting between the President and some of these visitors could be arranged as appropriate if desired. The tone of the brief indicated to me that there was no need for concern, since these visitors were in no way, causing any harm, or had any intentions, whatsoever, of causing any disruption then, or in the future".
Henry Kissinger speaking of UFOs
"The subject is the biggest hot potato of all time."
Gerald Ford
"The American public deserves a better explanation than that thus far given by the U. S. Air Force. I strongly recommend that there be a committee investigation of the UFO phenomena. I think we owe it to the people to establish credibility regarding UFOs and to produce the greatest possible enlightenment on this subject."
Jimmy Carter
"It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. It was big, it was very bright, it changed colors and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was.
One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists." – Carter made the statement when talking to reporters during his 1976 election campaign regarding his 1969 sighting of a UFO at the Leary Georgia Lions Club. Ten other Lions Club members also witnessed the same UFO. As President, Carter did attempt to obtain information that the U.S. Government had on UFOs. But CIA Director, George H. Bush, refused to allow the President to have access.
Ronald Reagan, 1974
"I was in a plane last week when I looked out the window and saw this white light. It was zigzagging around. I went up to the pilot and said, 'Have you ever seen anything like that?' He was shocked and he said, 'Nope.' And I said to him: 'Let's follow it!' We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens. When I got off the plane I told Nancy all about it. But we didn't file a report on the object because for a long time they considered you a nut if you saw a UFO..."
John Podesta, former Chief of Staff to President Clinton and transition co-manager for President Obama
"I think it's time to open the books on questions that have remained in the dark on the question of government investigations of UFOs. It's time to find out what the truth really is that's out there. We ought to do it really because it's right. We ought to do it because the American people, quite frankly, can handle the truth. And we ought to do it because it's the law."
James E. Klaproth, State Delegate/Republican Party, Pagosa Springs, Colorado
"I and my traveling partner witnessed a U.F.O. on Saturday, May 31 in Denver, CO at about 8 AM while attending the Republican Party Convention. U.F.O.s are real!!! This is a great start to overcome the censorship." Klaproth was signer #159 for the online petition to support the Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission ballot initiative at http://www.petitiononline.com/etaffair/petition.html
Hillary Clinton
Ms. Clinton, was discovered holding the book "Are We Alone? Philosophical Implications of the Discovery of Extraterrestrial Life", in a photo, when walking with with Laurance Rockefeller on his ranch in the late 1990's.
According to an article by Alfred Webre in Examiner.com, "Hillary Clinton has state of the art knowledge of the extraterrestrial presence. During her first term (1993-1997) as First Lady in the Bill Clinton White House, Hillary Clinton served as White House point person for a significant research initiative on the extraterrestrial presence led by philanthropist Laurance Rockefeller. According to documents obtained under Freedom of Information requests by researcher Grant Cameron, Hillary Clinton was present when Rockefeller presented a briefing on 'the Best Available Evidence' then President Bill Clinton.
Hillary Clinton and her staff helped draft a letter to President Clinton, which set out a comprehensive disclosure policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial issues, entitled: 'Lifting Secrecy of Information about Extraterrestrial Intelligence as Part of the Current Classification Review.'
According to FOIA documents, the Nov. 1, 1995 letter Clinton helped draft 'calls for disclosure for all ETI and UFO material being held by the government and makes three recommendations:
'1. UFOs and ETI documents should be given priority in government declassification efforts such as the Presidential Executive Order 12958 issued in 1995.
'2. Requests the appointment of a coordinator for ETI and UFO information inside the government
'3. Requests an amnesty for all military people who might have classified information on UFOs, so they can come forward without fear."
Former Arizona Governor Fyfe Symington (Republican)
"I suspect that unless the Dept. of Defense proves us otherwise, it probably was some form of alien spacecraft. The lights were really brilliant and it was just fascinating. It was enormous. It just felt other-worldly. In your gut you could just tell it was other-worldly…Behind the scenes I tried to investigate it but got nowhere."
Tom Tancredo, Conservative and former Colorado Congressman, is one of hundreds of Congressional members who have been briefed, or received briefing materials, on extraterrestrial UFOs and visitors. He is running for Governor of Colorado in 2010.
Surprisingly, conservative politicians around the world have been more open and progressive than liberal politicians about discussing UFOs and calling for disclosure of files regarding extraterrestrial visitors.
President Obama encouraged to disclose UFO and ET files
According to an inside source, the President of France has informed President Obama on two occasions that if the U.S. did not publicly disclose information about UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors then France would. One of these occasions included twenty pounds of briefing material being presented to President Obama.
Political Leaders from Non-U.S. Countries – Views on UFOs
UFO files have already been made public by Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Uruguay.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek, speaking at the United Nations on Nov. 27th 1978 at the invitation of former Prime Minister of Grenada, Sir Eric Gairy, said [excerpt]:
"Mr. Chairman, I have not always held the opinion that UFOs were worthy of serious scientific study. I began my work as Scientific Consultant to the U.S. Air Force as an open skeptic, in the firm belief that we were dealing with a mental aberration and a public nuisance. Only in the face of stubborn facts and data similar to those studied by the French commission... have I been forced to change my opinion."
[Note: Gairy promoted the idea that the UN in 1977 to create an agency or department to start research on UFO and extraterrestrial life, resulting in their Resolution 33/426 on Extraterrestrial Life in 1978. – Wikipedia]

Mikhail Gorbachev, 1990
"The Phenomenon [UFO] is real and we should approach it seriously and study it"
UK Prime Minister David Cameron
"I think we should be as open as possible, so I would be quite happy to give you a guarantee that if I became prime minister I would always be entirely open and frank about these things". Cameron's comment was in response to a question about UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors during his campaign for Prime Minister.
Former Canadian Minister of Defense, Paul Hellyer on MSNBC, 12/9/05
"I finally concluded, especially after reading a book called 'The Day After Roswell,' written by Colonel Philip Corso, that unidentified flying objects are, in fact real – as real as the airplanes flying over your head, and that there has been a monumental cover-up for more than half a century.
This is after, you know, looking at a lot of evidence and trying to discern who was telling the truth and who wasn't. And I have concluded unequivocally that the people who claim that they have either seen UFOs or have seen classified documents about UFOs, or have seen wreckage from the crash at Roswell, on or about July 4, 1947, are the ones telling the truth. And consequently, I am basing my policy considerations on that. I am hoping that we can persuade the Canadian Senate to hold hearings and listen to some of the 400 witnesses that...Dr. Steven Greer has compiled."
EU Declaration on the Declassification of Documentation on UFOs
At least thirty members of the European Union Parliament, led by Conservative Italian EU MP Mario Borghezi, have reportedly signed the following EU Written Declaration (0057/2010), dated June 14, 2010
"The European Parliament, – having regard to Articles 4, 179, 180 and 189 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, having regard to Rule 123 of its Rules of Procedure,
A. whereas in 1978 the 33rd General Assembly of the United Nations formally recognized UFOs as a valid issue,
B. whereas in 1993 a resolution drafted by the Italian physicist Tullio Regge and seeking to extend to European level the investigative remit of what was then the only government body looking into UFOs (the SEPRA, which has now become the GEIPAN) was tabled in Parliament,
C. whereas many members of the scientific community have been looking into the issue of UFOs and have denounced the systematic covering-up of information on the subject,
D. whereas a study of the material collected by the governments of all the Member States would have major scientific and technological spinoffs,
1. Considers it essential to set up a scientific centre for the analysis and dissemination of the scientific data gathered to date by various European bodies and governments;
2. Calls for public archives on UFOs to be opened up and for records to be declassified by the Member States, thus providing the public and the mass media with access to the full range of documentation on the subject
3. Instructs its President to forward this declaration, together with the names of the signatories, to the Council, the Commission and the governments of the Member States."
Religious Views on UFOs and Extraterrestrials
There is a wide range of views on UFOs and ETs from religious leaders. Following are excerpts from an article by Paola Leopizzi Harris about two Catholic priests who have made public statements about these phenomena:
Monsignor Corrado Balducci, Vatican Theologian, former insider who was close to the Pope
"We can't anymore deny that something is happening here in this field of ufology. Not just flying saucers, but there might be actual people, beings, extraterrestrial beings."
Monsignor Balducci has been studying UFOs for years. At the X-Conference in Washington DC, Balducci gave permission to the Spanish world to embrace the extraterrestrial reality because it does not conflict with the Catholic religion.
Father Gabriel Funes - Jesuit priest and Vatican Observatory Director
"The search for extraterrestrial life does not contradict belief in God. How can we rule out that life may have developed elsewhere?...Just as we consider earthly creatures as a 'brother' and a 'sister,' why should we not talk about an 'extraterrestrial brother?' It would still be part of creation...Ruling out the existence of aliens would be like 'putting limits' on God's creative freedom." - [These statements were made May 13, 2008, the anniversary of the Madonna of Fatima in the newspaper Il Osservatore Romano which is the official mouthpiece of the Vatican] Source: www.paolaharris.com
