Washington, DC – On Monday at the National Press Club Dr. Edgar Mitchell called upon the new Democratic administration under President Barack Obama to end a six-decade long truth embargo imposed by elements within the United States government and confirm to the American people the reality of an extraterrestrial, non-human intelligence engaging the human race.
Scientist, test pilot, naval officer, astronaut, entrepreneur, author and lecturer, Dr. Mitchell's extraordinary career has been a constant quest to explore and understand the world in which we live. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon University, a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and a Doctor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT. He has received honorary doctorates in engineering from New Mexico State University, the University of Akron, Carnegie Mellon University and a ScD from Embry-Riddle University. Dr. Mitchell has received many awards and honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize and was inducted into the Space Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1998.
Following Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Milton Torres, Major USAF (ret.), related an incident in 1957 while serving in the United Kingdom wherein he was ordered to shoot down a “UFO” which registered on his radar as possibly the size of an “aircraft carrier” and demonstrated extraordinary maneuverability. He was subsequently warned by an intelligence staffer to never speak of the incident to anyone or else lose his flying status. He only spoke out when the report of the incident turned up in a series of UFO file released last year into the public domain by the British government. Dr. Torres called upon the new Democratic administration under President Barack Obama to declassify and release all “UFO” related documents in government files to the American people. In this he mirrored very similar demands previously made by former Clinton advisor and chief of staff, John Podesta, and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
Following Dr. Torres, Nick Pope, a former Senior Executive Officer with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence, who directly investigated the UFO issue while working for the MoD, related how media coverage in the UK of the extraterrestrial/UFO issue has exploded over the past twelve months due to the timed release of thousands of documents and sighting reports by the British government into the public domain. I absolutely admire Dr. Mitchell for his couragous effort to end this silence that has plagued our world for over 70 years.
It seems eventhough we have an person of that stature skeptics still don't want to believe.

Fear is a problem. Once the truth is told it will change the world. What can we expect? History books will have to be rewriten, faiths are going to be questioned, and our very exsistence will have to be re-examined. Are we ready? I offered well-known Ufologists and UFO investigators from MUFON to witness for themselves 100s of AFO in the night sky and all of them by using different excuses rejected my offer. I still hope that some day one of the Ufologists will behave like Dr Mitchell and will have courage to verify the existence of AFOs in our atmosphere. (By the way, 45 years ago I served for 4.5 years in the Russian Navy on top secret military ship that tracked sattelites and experimental rockets,- as radar station operator, we have been well trained for that mission).

ET's are a possibility, but it is unlikely that they have visited our planet. The nearest sun (Epsilon Eridani) which has possibly two planets, is 10.5 light years away, a return trip would be double the time. ET individuals would have to live for thousands of years in order to make frequent trips to our Earth, since no three-dimensional object can travel with the speed of light. – Well, suppose UFO's have visited the earth, then why would our government want to keep it a secret? What would be the point? Some UFO's have supposedly landed on Earth. Why didn't its passengers come out and try to get in touch with with us? I am inclined to think that these UFO observations may have been secret military experiments, whether by us or by other nations.
These extra-terrestrials are very very advanced. They have technology that enables them to travel these great distances. Technology we have not discovered, yet. They have been coming to our planet for (probably) thousands of years. Be cautious not to limit your thoughts of the possibilities in the Universes! All beings do not have the same requirements to survive. Some beings are "non-breathers"! (try to imagine that one!) Some beings live in underground dwellings as the surface of their sphere is continually bombarded by space debris due to their thin atmosphere. Some human beings have come into close contact with these "other-worldly" creatures, some human beings had such close encounters as to have been taken into spaceships, some experiences have not been pleasant. Some experiences have been pleasant. I prefer to avoid any craft that I perceive to be of an alien nature. (well, I don't know why I say that, because I have been known to chase after peculiar lights in the sky, before...BUT ONLY WITH OTHER PEOPLE, NEVER ALONE... :/
