To no one's surprise, the Twilight soundtrack picked up the award for "Favorite Album" at the 2009 American Music Awards event yesterday.
While the day might've been dominated by songstress Taylor Swift (who picked up awards for "Artist of the Year," "Favorite Female Artist" (for both Pop and Country music), and "Favorite Artist" in the Adult/Contemporary category), the Twilight soundtrack was the one to hone in on the much-coveted "Favorite Album" win.
The Twilight soundtrack was very popular with fans and reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200 quite easily. With artists like Muse, Linkin Park, Robert Pattinson, and many others, though, it isn't any wonder why the Twilight soundtrack fared so well. The soundtrack for its sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, fared similarly in charts this year, so fans are expecting a repeat performance by the New Moon soundtrack in awards ceremonies such as the AMAs.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Alex Meraz was in attendance of the event.
