Stephenie Meyer responds to 'Breaking Dawn' controversy gossip

'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer - Hatchette Books

Yesterday, a strange line of gossip began at E! News about some controversy between Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer and Twilight series film studio Summit Entertainment over The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

Of course, gossip is like that tiny snag in a pair of pantyhose that just keeps stretching and warping out of control until all that's left is an unrecognizable ruin of cloth.

Well, the snag stops here as Stephenie Meyer herself took to her website to address the allegations.

Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I've said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I'm all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I've spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We're all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip get fabricated to stir things up, but there's no basis to this particular story.

Steph

Good for her. I saw that story, and it was like the guy was a high school brat, just trying to bait Stephenie with rudeness to get a reaction. As usual, she took the high road, and put an end to it nice and fast.
And yes, can't imagine that huge book being only one movie; so many crucial things would be left out. Two movies is the way to go. NOT to "make more money for the studio", but because it's the better creative choice. I'm just sayin'. :)

BD--was the worst book..and please, they haven't kept many good scenes from eclipse so making this into two painful movies would just that..painful.

It NEEDS to be two movies so that i can watch the first one (wedding, honeymoon,Bella's turning), and skip the second one(Jacob-Tayfest,the EPIC non-fight).
Anyway, the Eclipse script has left no doubt that Bella wants to be a vampire first(YAY! for the independent woman who knows her mind) and than Edward.looks like jacob got a better-bella-free deal. lucky guy. LOL! So this saga is pretty much done for me.

I agree with Jen L. BD have to in 2 movies. The book was great...however some stuff i would leave out for the movie...some of the chapters...for example Jacob's book(part), some of it...is just...'why is it here?' So, yeah, the best way for summit would be make the movie in 2 parts, because if they will make it in 1, Rosenberg will cut off so many important scenes and ppl will be upset.

Hey, BD is my favorite book! How many books are out there where they main character gets everything? Of course I think that the entire Jacob section could be replaced with one chapter... maybe less and the procession of vampires in the third chapter is kind of lengthy. It's necessary in a way, but I'll bet it's one of the first things to go in the movie.

Wow, what a rude article concerning The Twilight Saga and Stephenie Meyer on EOnline. This is how journalists behave? Seriously? Do they have any credibility by wirting like a 'friggin' mornon? Good for Stephenie for responding the way she did. Twifans would love to see 2 movies and that's the basis for the series popularity. Give the fans what they want.

OK I MOST DEF THINK THERE SHOULD BE TWO MOVIES, HELL MAKE IT 3!!!! BUT I DISAGREE SASHA M, JACOB'S PART HAS TO BE IN THERE THAT IS WHEN BELLA GIVES BIRTH AND TELLS AND SHOWS HER PREGANCY ITS VERY IMPORTANT...I CANT WAIT!!!!!

jeez, get out of summit's a$s. they're a sh***y studio that keeps its actors on a short leash and has yet to turn out a decent twilight movie. the original was awful, new moon was not much better (see: alice's "vision" of edward and bella frolicking, among others) and they're probably going to f**k up eclipse too. melissa rosenberg sucks, anyone who read the leaked script can attest that she writes like a fifth grader, so here's to hoping they find a better scribe for breaking dawn.

LOL Of course Stephanie Meyers, wants 2 movies made from her book. Chachang. More money that way in her pocket and everyone involved in the film. I think the book is fine in one film. I read the whole series, except last book, a zillion times, only once on last book. Breaking Dawn, can be broken up very easy in one film.
