Robert Pattinson, star of Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, How To Be, and Little Ashes, has developed an enormous fan-base the world over for his work, his good looks, and his charming candor.
Notoriously, his fans thirst for (pun intended) as much information about the beau at any given time as possible. For instance, photographs are circling the net as we speak of Pattinson going to and fro between Los Angeles and Vancouver whilst speculation about his potential up-coming flicks such as Bel-Ami surface as a result of an interview he did overseas. Most recently, photographs of Pattinson leaving director Peter Berg's house have come to the fore, causing quite the stir as to whether he might be pursuing a project with the Lions for Lambs and Hancock actor.
Paparazzi swarm him at his every step. His name is in the news every single day, and it seems that no stone has been left un-turned when it comes to speculation about Pattinson's love-life, personal interests, and future endeavors. Yet, all this seems trivial when compared to one fan's devotion to him.
A fan by the name of Stephanie posted this photograph on her Twitter account. It is of her wrist, tattooed with the signature of Robert Pattinson. While it is not unheard of, or completely extraordinary to have signatures or insignia tattooed on one's body (I've seen the likes of Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon autographed into the skin of die-hard fans, and even the Earth symbol from Dan Brown's book Angels & Demons etched into someone's arm), but is this taking fandom of Pattinson too far, or is the decision completely ordinary?

This is insane.. I mean I would consider myself obsessed and I think this is going too far.
Insane and you can't tell at first glance what it even says.. She'll regret that when she's older!
That right there is taking obsession to a whole other level.
Sadly, it IS common, but being such does not spare the fact that it is idiotic!
she went way TOO far...
Im obsessed over RP as well, but i wouldn't go to this length...
crazy. just plain crazy.
I love Rob and his work, but she is really going to regret that when she's older.
THAT is insane. If someone i did not know tattooed my name on their body it would seriously weird me out...I don't even know him, but i would guess he isn't going to be jumping up and down clapping his hands going, "oh goody!"
INSANE,CRAZY,IDIOTIC and PATHETIC. I don't think there are anymore words left except for STRANGE,VERY STRANGE PERSON.
WOW!! im pretty crazyy bout the GORGEOUS man!! but yea thats a whole nother level for me!! doubt my hubby will let that one fly lol!
I think people can do what they want, when they want, and if she wanted to have Robert Pattinson name tattooed on to her wrist, them more power to her! You go Stephanie!
yea this person has some real serious issues to work through this has STALKER all over it Rob Patzz better get a bodyguard
I love tattoos and have a few and I am planning on getting the words "plus que ma propre vie" which of course means more than my own life , from Breaking Dawn, but this will not only have a special Twilight meaning it will have a devotion to my own daughter in it's meaning too.Roberts signature is not a bad idea at all, the only thing I would have done was to put it in a not so public spot, due to the fact that at some point you'll have to cover it for one reason or another, so it probably should have been done in a different spot.
It's weird, but I've heard of it before, so it's not quite as weird. It would be even less weird if there was something cool or interesting about his signature, but it's kind of boring, making the tattoo even more lame.
signature is okay, at least it's not a tattoo of Rob's face... that can be onsidered a bit too far
this person had the guts to do what we would never do... kudos to her for the tattoo...but i can only imagine the regret of having it 5, 10, 15 years from now!
I don't know Rob, but I think he would be freaked out by it. Wonderful what her future husband or boyfiends will think.
If I'd had a signature on my wrist at her age, it would say Bobby Sherman. I would sure regret that one now.
lol, maybe in a year she'll just cover it up with some tribal art....
I would rather have his lips on my ass.. but hey that's me
I would tell her to start saving her bucks for laser removal
I think she went a little to far and will have regrets. Here is an address to buy yourself a magnet to look at instead of getting a tatoo.

wow that is awesome. his signature might be lame but wow is he hot. and to be honest i doubt that robert will be out of popularity in years to come. do you know how many movies he is getting himself into. wow if i had the guts i would do something like that or related to twilight. i know maybe she'll regret it in years to come but meanwhile it is significant and it is totally worth it.
whoa...those are nice magnets! And sweet tattoo

Eww. Couldn't, wouldn't even dream of doing that. But then again, I know who Bobby Sherman is. Thanks for that chuckle, Debbie. When I had crushes, I tattooed my notebooks!
Love Rob and love tattoos. He'll freak when he sees that!
If I were going to tattoo his name on me, I would ask him to sign ME in a MUCH more interesting place than my wrist!
Well, it will give the police an identifying mark when she's arrested for stalking and harassing Robert Pattinson, because that seems to be the road she's on. Also, she'll have a great time explaining it to her kids and grandchildren. That's if it's still legible when the grandchildren show up. It'll also be fun to explain to future boyfriends and later on a husband. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of her obsessive habits.
Nice tat it's your body, let'em talk. If you like it and wanted it that's all that matters it's nobody else's skin but yours. That what tats are all about self expression and things you love so if that was your choice then rock it with pride baby.
She will soon learn it is just a phase. But who knows. I would never get a tat and even if I did it wouldn't be of someone's signature..Watch out Rob..she's gonna getcha.
Well, being as needy as I am for any infromation on this wonderful man, I saulte you! I had only ever gone as far as thinking maybe the Cullen Crest, but Rob's sig. is much better. If I were aloud to get a tattoo, I would definatly get this one. Too bad I didn't think of it first. However, these are permanent, and I am not sure how appropriete it would be to have when I am 80.
CREEP!!!!!
Yeah, I'm all for getting tattooed (I have 6 myself, and plan on getting more), but she's going to end up regretting getting his signature tattooed on her wrist. Any other, less conspicuous, body part might have been better, but I still think it's a little over the top. She would have done well to just have his signature framed or something like that.
That being said, I am going to play devil's advocate and say this: maybe she WON'T regret it later - maybe her tattoo will be an everlasting reminder of something that is very near and dear to her heart. Who are we to judge her on a very personal decision? If people have comments about my tattoos, I very politely thank them for the opinion, but it is just that - an opinion. It is her wrist, and only SHE will have to look at it for the rest of her life. Or until she has it removed/covered up.
:)
its her wrist she can do with it what she wants, i guess. ask her in 10 years if she still likes it though. ; )
TATTOOS HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love tattooS!!!! but to do this is just F ING STUPID!!!! why the hell would you do this...i def don't believe in getting names on your body unless it's like you kids or something....never anyone else but that though not even husbands, wifes!!!! but the dumb F got someone who she doesn't even know and probably never even actually met!!! what an idiot!!! whatever though...it's her body her life her decision but i agree with erika ask her in ten years if she still liks it :)
I'm more interested in the possibility Rob will be in Dune. Now thats exciting.
I swear this is not me!!!!
Hey, no making fun of Rob's sig! If you signed your name a million times for fans, how would yours look? Love you Rob!
Tattoos are to be unique and sentimental and this I will say is both. Considering my story behind how I received the casts autographs and how it was one of the highlights of my life, I would do this tattoo. In fact seriously considering it. VERY COOL, I LIKE!
Sorry its a bit much. I love Rob as much as then ext person but I'm not tattooing something like that on my body (and I have a mini sleeve!). If it was henna yeah it would be cute but its just a little too much for my blood.
Great article Amanda!
the other day i read an article that asked a specialist if robert pattinson was a pop icon and the specialist almost laughed saying "no. you have to reach people of all ages and genders to be a pop icon. like elvis." the responses of course were very angered. obviously that man had never been to an elvis concert where audiences were usually 95% female. very reminiscent of twilight gatherings. anywho, when i saw this girl's tattoo i thought of the article and i hope that man sees this. I think someone tattooing your signature on her wrist is pop icon status. haha.
My goodness poor girl. If I were Robert I would be SCARED!!! This is a little far. I understand being a fan but putting the mans signature on your body....seriously!!!
Fans are fans...gotta love their eternal and unconditional devotion!
It's her body, she can do what she wants. But - FYI: it's well know that it's bad luck to tattoo someone's name on your wrist. It means that you & the persons name you have done on ur wrist will have future troubles.
Sure, you can do what you want to your body, but I don't think she thought very far into the future. When I was 16 I had a MAJOR crush on a few actors, even got one's autograph and I thought that was the most amazing moment of my life. 10+ years later and it's a nice memory, but hardly the most amazing moment of my life.
He could end up being a Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, or Paul Newman, but there's an even bigger chance that in 10 years people will be saying "who the hell is that?". Don't get me wrong, Rob is a handsome guy with talent, but just not sure if he's got what it takes to handle this lifestyle. He already seems like he could crack under the pressure at any moment.
I would never get a tattoo with Rob Pattinson's name on it! But I am in love with Edward Cullen, not Rob, he is just the fortunate one who got to play his role in the movies. If I was the girl, I would of got the tattoo done saying Edward Cullen instead of Robert Pattinson. Then it wouldnt be so bad to admit that you were in love with a fictional character when you are 80 years old :)
That is definitely "too much".
It's those kind of things that keeps Rob freaked out about the fans. He can't even walk down the street anymore without people following him & now people are tattooing his signature on themselves....Why must the few fans that take it "too" far ruin it for the rest of us. I feel that Rob will never do a convention or any sort of fan related event on his own time for the simple reason that the fans scare the crap out of him.
I hope someday he can see that his loyal & true fans would not treat him like some caged animal in a zoo that they've never seen before. I feel that most of us fans love & respect Rob for who he as an individual human being and it saddens me that his whole fandom is sometimes judged based on a few bad apples....
Wellll, to each their own .... I'm sure her future mate will love that ;-)
Not too far. I have one of Rick Springfield on my ankle (and yes I've had it for years with no regret). Would I have one of my boyfriend/husband? Absolutely not! Now that's not smart. These celebrity tattoos are not always about the celebrity exactly. It can really just be about what the person/music/acting gives you (and you wanting to remember it). That's all-nothing psycho. Tattoos are most often done to remember moments in time.
MAJORLY too far! This is crazitines day to the extreme. Those are the kinds of fans that management companies put on lists and warn their clients to stay far away from. seriously, she will be getting her own personal letter very shortly on letterstorob.com saying 'stay the hell away from rob you crazy person"
(oh was that mean!?)
I have a heart tat on my back side that has an empty banner across it. I was going to put my kids name on it, but then they threw up and said we are college graduates we don't want to be on your a**. If Robpattz wants to sign it I'll tatoo his name on it or Brad Pitt, Paul McCartney. My kids suggest, "if you see this tatoo I must be dead".
WAY TOO FAR!!! Poor Robert. Why can't everyboby realize that it is not the man Robert Pattinson that they are in love with, but with the character he portrays "Edward Cullen"! Leave him alone for once. And for all you obssesed weirdos out there who stalk the poor guy GET HELP NOW!!!!
Getting somebody's signature tattooed is CREEPY. End of story. It doesn't matter who's signature it is.
Uh it's kind of weird that somebody would do something like that. Me personally I have a tattoo on my arm of a red bar code with my online persona underneath it. I got it out of devotion to myself as a person to sort of mentally combine the two together figuratively speaking.
The tattoo is a personal choice matter, awkward and creepy. But that's human I guess...
